We had some issues using the default libcurl configuration from the
Yocto. Yocto builds libcurl by default against gnutls and the issue
disappears when we build libcurl with --with-ssl

It is unclear to me if this is a bug in libcurl, gnutls or any other
library and I was asked to share this issue with the libcurl project,
too.

While I can't really describe what is causing it, the steps to
reproduce it as well as a test script can be found in the Yocto ticket
